Learning Teaching
28 Sep 2020I’m participating in an online course on An Introduction to Evidence-Based Undergraduate STEM Teaching. So how do scientists approach teaching? - They literally have teaching down to a science!
In evidence based teaching, classroom techniques are not based on experience or intuition, but one’s tools and approaches are considered a scientific project. Different approaches are implemented, evaluated with respect to observable learning outcomes for the students, and iteratively adjusted accordingly. I’m excited to be a part of this. More info about the course and teaching in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) in general can be found using the hastag #STEMTeaching. The course is provided by CIRTL (Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning).
